If you find that your copywriting is not working as well as you would like it to be, you may need to change your writing style. Writing your copy in a more authoritative tone will make your recommendations and suggestions more powerful. To that end, we’ll look at some of the things you can do to add this kind of tone to your writing.
Tip #1 – Clearly state the benefits and benefits
Since it is probably an obvious statement to say that nothing can be all things to everyone, we are sure that your idea, statement, service or product will have some limitations or flaws. Your job is not to tailor these to your readers. Instead, highlight the positive. Make sure your writing focuses on the benefits and advantages they will receive.
For example, if you’re promoting a light motorcycle, you don’t have to tell your readers that it won’t go as fast as a car. For that matter, it will also not fly but will help the owner to reach his destination. It costs less than a car, is environmentally friendly and easy to store.
Tip #2 – Make use of the facts
It may be in your nature to write with exaggerated character, but that doesn’t endear you to the reader. In effect, it means that they will diminish what you say because of your liberal use of embellishment. This is of course not the required mindset you want it to be on your behalf. If you haven’t already, you’ll find that the quickest way to diminish your credibility is to be known as overestimating it. But you can use this same principle on your own. Let your readers see you as the one who states easily verifiable facts in your writing. Build on it to make any points, suggestions or recommendations you want to make.
Tip #3 – Back up your claims with proof
You will find that gaining authority in writing is very similar to what happens with news stories. Before making statements, they need proof that what they say is actually true. You should look to do the same with your writing. When you make a statement that may need to be proven as it was, make sure you also have the numbers and details to back it up. You can even use a statement, research, or study by a recognized expert to add to your claim if available.
We’ve taken a quick look at three tips you can use to make your writing more reliable. These included stating benefits and benefits, using facts and supporting claims with evidence. By making sure that your writing includes these elements, you can easily add a more authoritative tone to it.
